VERMIKULIT

Used as a Supportive Insulating Material Around Liner Pipes in Existing Chimneys

Vermiculite is primarily intended for use as a supportive insulating material around liner pipes in existing chimneys. It secures the pipe and reduces heat loss in flue gases.

Design
Vermiculite is produced from a mica-like rock. Initially, it consists of thin small plates, which are exposed to 800-1000°C heat for a short time. The water molecules trapped in the “mica” turn into steam, causing the material to expand up to 20 times its original size. The pH value is 9.

The material contains small amounts of mineral compounds, making its reaction typically alkaline. Vermiculite is delivered in 100-liter bags.

Maximum Operating Temperature
+1100°C
